Time Is Not Linear
I.
Introduction
A. How would we define time if time is not linear?
B. Time is actually an illusion that humans create. Everything, including the past and future,
is the present; those are happening right now. Little did you know past lives are parallel
lives.
II.
Support #1 – Time is an artificial 3D construct.
A. The idea of time is the tool of the mind. Time is the source of consciousness and an
abstraction.
B. We all know that time does not exist. We can’t smell, see, or feel time.
C. You might think, what’s about the clock? The machine itself is sophisticated. It helps us
to measure time; however, measuring time does not prove its physical existence.
III.
Support #2 – Is your “now” the same as my “now”?
A. Everyone experiences time differently. Some might think the time is moving slow. Some
might think the time is moving fast.
B. Presentism is the idea that events in the past and future do not exist. The only thing that is
real is the present.
C. Thus, we cannot suffer from the past or the future. Your memory and imagination are
what makes you suffer.
IV.
Support #3 – My artist is An-My Le. A political refugee
A. Le focuses on the impact, representation, and consequences of war. She uses her 15-yearold memories to recreate an artwork that frames a tension between the landscape and its
transformation into battlefields.
B. In Le’s black and white images of Vietnam in early 1990, she uses the power of
photography to express her anxiety.
C. She believes that “landscape brings history into the present.”
V.
Support #4 – The process of healing is not linear
A. We do not go from failure to success; but instead, it is circular. We come back to the
same pain and loneliness; however, we’re stronger each time we came around.
B. We repeat what we don’t repair. Some say time is the healer. But if we don’t learn how to
get back stronger, we will return to the circle of life painfully.
VI.
Conclusion
A. Time does not flow in one direction, and the future and past exist simultaneously.
B. So, go live today because tomorrow is not promised to anyone.
